About the Authority
The Dareen and Tarout Islands Development Authority is a public entity with its own legal personality and financial and administrative independence. It is organizationally affiliated with the Prime Minister and operates under the supervision of the Eastern Province Development Authority. The Authority exercises its mandate within the geographical boundaries of Dareen and Tarout Islands and operates on a commercial, non-profit basis to enhance the islands’ competitiveness, advance development and quality of life, contribute to the local economy, and preserve their environmental and historical sites.
The Authority brings together spatial planning, program and project management, investment promotion, heritage and environmental protection, and coordination with government entities, the private sector, and the community. Its goal is to ensure that the islands’ projects are connected in terms of place, timing, and impact—forming a cohesive development strategy rather than a collection of isolated interventions.
