His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Eastern Province and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Darin and Tarout Island Development Authority, chaired today, Wednesday, the Authority’s second Board meeting of 2025, in the presence of Their Excellencies and Distinguished Members of the Board.His Highness expressed his appreciation for the support of the wise leadership for the development of the island, emphasizing during the meeting the importance of continuing work on all preparatory projects being undertaken by the Authority and implementing them as required, with the aim of commencing the development phases of Darin and Tarout Island in accordance with the approved plans, particularly in the tourism and investment sectors.His Highness noted that the Authority is working according to systematic plans that align with the nature and history of the area, contributing to the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to transform the Kingdom into an attractive destination by leveraging its distinctive advantages across all regions.The Acting CEO of the Darin and Tarout Island Development Authority, Mr. Abdullah bin Misfar Al-Qahtani, explained that the Board discussed the progress of the island’s development projects currently being undertaken by the Authority in collaboration with the Eastern Province Development Authority and in coordination with the relevant development entities. The Board also reviewed the plan for enhancing the visitor experience on the island, in addition to activating Al-Ramlah Al-Bayda Beach and the actions taken regarding previous Board resolutions.Al-Qahtani stated that work on the island’s development is progressing according to plan toward achieving the highest levels of completion, which, God willing, will have a positive impact on the island from both investment and tourism perspectives, while enabling all sectors to contribute to achieving the established development

A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Darin and Tarout Island Development Authority, the Eastern Province Development Authority, and the Saudi Electricity Company to collaborate in the environmental field. The MoU includes planting two million mangrove trees, protecting the environment, and enhancing vegetation cover, in support of the objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative, which aims to plant 10 billion trees and reduce carbon emissions.The Eastern Province Development Authority was represented at the signing by its CEO, Eng. Omar Al-Abdulatif, while the Saudi Electricity Company was represented by Eng. Sultan Al-Mahashir, Executive Vice President of Occupational Health, Safety, Security and Environment. The Darin and Tarout Island Development Authority was represented by its Acting CEO, Mr. Abdullah Al-Qahtani.

The Acting CEO of the Darin and Tarout Island Development Authority, Mr. Abdullah bin Misfar Al-Qahtani, met with Dr. Bdoor Al-Othman, Director General of the Eastern Province Branch of the Heritage Commission, to align plans and objectives between the two entities and integrate efforts in line with the approved development direction for the island.
